Having attended this site frequently at a young age after its purpose was quarrying sand for local and distant communities, I wanted to give back to this landscape a justified rebirth and a chance for her to replenish by allowing Nature from the adjoining Nature Reserve 'Grange' site to percolate and help heal her wounded scares.
To compliment this narrative, a place where humans can heal, partly through Nature, inspired my architecture intervention.
Through research, Biophilic design applications, and design strategies, a Rehabilitation Centre will be dedicated for hospital interim patients prior to being sent home, mainly from Monash and Dandenong hospitals, the chance to rehabilitate from illnesses such as stroke and coronary calamities. Such welfare centres are scarce, in need of repair, and do not accommodate its current demographic makeup.
This architecture will allow the site to continue to provide for the community, except this time on a healing platform for humans and Nature.
